Le réalisateur  Anurag BASU a récemment déclaré qu'il n'aimait pas Amtabh BACHCHAN et que ce dernier devait prendre sa retraite après sa prestation dans AAG.
Voici, ci dessous,  la réaction d'autres réalisateurs de BOLLYWOOD face à cette déclaration:

Sanjay Leela Bhansali: "I think Mr Basu seriously needs to re-assess what he has said about Amitji. Please ask him to go back to all this unbeatable actor's films from Anand to Namak Halaal to the recent ones Like Black and Baghban...The nuances in his comic timing and the dramatic pauses in his emotional scenes...waah! There can never be another Amitabh Bachchan. Just as there can never be another Lata Mangeshkar. Both represent the last word in perfection in their respective arts. To imagine Hindi cinema without them is unimaginable to me. I'm dying to do another film with him after Black. I feel no filmmaker is complete without working with him. He's the God of acting"

Balki (Cheeni Kum): "Who is Anurag Basu to talk about Amitabh Bachchan? Just because you rip off a couple of DVDs and make a couple of films you don't get the right to decide when Amitabh Bachchan should retire. It's become a cheap publicity gimmick to talk about Amitabh Bachchan and get noticed. It's like my driver saying the Dalai Lama should stop fighting, or remove the Taj Mahal from Agra. To me, Amitabh Bachchan is India's greatest treasure. Anurag Basu may not want to see his films. But there are millions who want to.

Hema Malini: "An artiste like Mr Bachchan can never retire. Every film of his is a learning experience for all generations of actors. I want him around for many years for a very selfish reason. He's the only leading man who suits me, ha ha."

Farhan Akhtar: "I think it's entirely Amit Uncle's decision as to when and if at all he should retire. None of is qualified to give him this kind of advice.

Ram Gopal Varma: "During his brief career Mr Anurag Basu has directed 2-3 films which can be considered hits within their budget. For him to comment on Mr Bachchan who has given terrific performances and umpteen blockbusters for more than thirty years and is today a full-on iconic figure, just makes me sad for Mr Basu. Fine...he didn't like Mr Bachchan in Aag and some other recent films. I myself didn't like Mr Bachchan in some films. I may not be considered much of a filmmaker by Mr Basu. But in my humble experience, an actor is as good as the role he's given and the way the director chooses to present him. Being a thorough professional Mr Bachchan simply surrenders to the director. As a talented director Mr Basu should understand that. Not a single person in the industry doubts Mr Bachchan's talent. If he failed in Aag or any other film it's the director's failure to use him properly. I can't understand what prompted this tirade from Mr Basu. More than him, I am angry with Mr Bachchan for reacting to Mr Basu. Please don't undermine your status by reacting to small fries like me and Mr Basu. As the old saying goes, when an elephant walks dogs will bark

Harry Baweja: "Will Anurag retire when someone asks him to? He better leave this decision to the legend himself."

Madhur Bhandarkar: "I can't understand what made Anurag Basu speak like this. It's a bizarre statement to make. Filmmakers and audiences worship Mr Bachchan. Any director would today give their right hand to work with him. I haven't so far. But I'd love to. Anurag is free to work with and see the films of the actors he likes. But as a responsible filmmaker he should be more careful in expressing his opinion about someone who represents the entertainment industry.

Suneel Darshan: "This is outrageous. Nobody has the right to decide Mr Bachchan's fate."

Vikram Bhatt: "Amitabh Bachchan is forever. You're making a big mistake by asking me whether Anurag was right or not. I'm Mr Bachchan's biggest fan. Even if he wants to retire I'd want him to go on.

Irrfan Khan: "Mr Bachchan will retire when he has to. He has no other choice."

Aadesh Shrivastav: "Who is Anurag Basu?"

Anupam Kher: "I can't understand what must've got into Anurag Basu to say something so outrageous. I know him as a soft-spoken non-controversial person. And why should he take it on himself to decide a retirement plan for Mr Bachchan? And if Clint Eastwood can go on as 'Dirty Harry' at the age of 80 why should Mr Bachchan retire.

Vipul Shah: "I think when he wants to retire is Mr Bachchan's personal choice and he knows what to do best. I'm sure Anurag also respects Mr Bachchan as much as all of us. But I feel even if he meant well, a statement like this hurts the sentiments of Indians all over the world."

Anubhav Sinha: "The decision to retire or not retire is entirely Mr Bachchan's. Personally, I wouldn't want him to retire until I've made at least one film with him. Anurag should stop drinking whatever he was drinking when he said that.

Vashu Bhagnani: "I don't think Mr Bachchan should ever retire. Bollywood won't be the same without him. He's like wine. Gets better with age. I want to see what other peaks he conquers."



En ce qui me concerne, il ne doit pas prendre sa retaite maintenant c'est beaucoup trop tôt même s'il aura 66 ans le 11 octobre de cette année.
Ce qui me fait un peu de peine dans cette histoire c'est que malgré ses 38 ans de carrière, il doit encore faire face à des attaques et des polémiques.

Enfin bon, pour moi, tant qu'il continue à jouer des rôles différents et à se renouveler comme il le fait jusqu'ici, je resterai toujours son plus grand fan. lol

Je pense qu'il y en a beaucoup que l'omniprésence-puissance de Amithab Bachchan dérange, et qui aimeraient se tailler aussi leur place au soleil. Mais personne n'osera l'admettre publiquement, ca serait suicidaire !

C'est étonnant comme débat, mais bon l'Inde c'est une démocratie après tout, et les légendes qui déchainent les passions sont les plus susceptibles de se faire démonter.

Je n'accepterais la retraite d'Amitabh Bachchan que l'orsqu'il y aura un acteur aussi talentueux et charismatique pour prendre la relève...


Après certains roles ont l'air mal choisis (Cheeni Kum, NishaBd, Jhoom barabar Jhoom) mais justement il fait des rôles dans lesquels on l'attendait le moins! Je trouve ça pas mal finalement.
C'est un des rares acteurs à être crédible dans TOUS ce qu'on lui demande de faire...
C'est suffisament rare pour être souligné

Oui c'est vrai qu'il devrait être plus selectif.
Cependant, tout au long de sa carrière , il n'a justement , jamais cherché à soigner son image contrairement à d'autres acteurs. BIG B a toujours dit qu'il choisissait de tourner dans un film si le sujet lui plaisait. Il ne s' est jamais dit : ah non je ne dois pas prendre ce rôle car c'est pas bon pour mon image. Pour lui, un acteur se doit de tout jouer.
En fait, il a expliqué dans son autobiographie que depuis son come back avec Mohabattein, il se permet de jouer des rôles différents car justement , il ne veut pas toujours faire la même chose. Il veut varier pour pouvoir dépasser ses limites car il se considère toujours comme étant un acteur limité. Bien sûr, il ne prétend pas savoir tout jouer mais il essaye de tout jouer. Parfois le résultat est décevant, parfois , c'est brillant.
Il se remet en question à chaque fois car pour lui lorsqu'il débute un tournage , il essaye de travailler comme si c'était son premier film. Il continue à apprendre. C'est ce qui préserve sa jeunesse et son dynamisme.
Il faut savoir que malgré son aspect imposant et impressionnant, Amitabh Bachchan est quelqu'un qui manque d'assurance et qui ne s'apprécie pas physiquement.
C'est généralement le cas avec beaucoup de comédiens (indiens et autres)qui pratiquent ce métier justement pour pouvoir devenir quelqu'un d'autre, s'évader, trouver l'assurance dont ils ont besoin.

Peut être que je me trompe mais BIG B aime le métier d'acteur pour le plaisir de jouer un personnage. Il aurait pu, vu son âge et son experience, devenir réalisateur, mais non. Il aime jouer et il ne peut s'en passer. Il reconnait lui même que parfois , son travail n'aboutit pas au résultat escompté mais ça ne l'empêche pas de vouloir essayer des choses différentes. Il n'a pas peur de se mouiller et c'est tout à son honneur. Parfois il se ridiculise  mais il s'en fiche. Après tout qui ne tente rien n'a rien.

Il ne faut pas oublier que lorsqu'il a débuté,personne ne misait sur lui . Tout le monde lui disait qu'il n'était pas fait pour le cinéma. Un réalisateur lui a même dit non pour un film, alors qu'il avait obtenu le NATIONAL AWARD de meilleur espoir masculin pour son tout premier film SAAT HINDUSTANI. Malgré tout ça BIG B n'en a fait qu'à sa tête et bien lui en a pris quand on voit tout le parcours de sa carrière.
Certes les choix qu'il fait sont discutables mais ceux sont ses choix et il les assume même s'il se plante. De toutes façons, il n'a plus rien à prouver à personne si ce n'est à lui même.
Il aime experimenter comme il dit. Y a pas de mal à ça. Moi je préfère voir un acteur qui tente des rôles différents quitte à prendre des risques à casser son image plutôt que le contraire. C'est justement là que l'on reconnaît les bons acteurs.
C'est, du moins, ce que je pense...

Est-ce que Sean Connery doit prendre sa retraite? est-ce que Claude Rich, André Dussolier doivent prendre leur retraite?

le cinéma est un des rares domaines ou il y a du travail de 0 à 100 ans, puisque le cinéma représente la vie (ou bigger than life) et que dans la vie on nait on grandit on devient vieux et on meurt. Alors pourquoi les acteurs grisonnants devraient prendre leur retraite? Pour faire jouer leurs roles par des jeunes sur les cheveux desquels on vaporise de la bombe grise 

Et encore, je trouve que pour les hommes il y a plus de rôles interessants passé la quarantaine que pour les femmes (qui deviennent des "mères" de héros, c'est flagrant surtout à bollywood). Mes parents aiment les films avec Amithab parce qu'ils peuvent encore s'identifier au héros, et ça doit être super agréable dans un paysage cinématographique qui nous fait nous sentir hors d'age à même pas 30 ans.

Vu l'article en lui-même, il ne semble pas que celà soit sérieux. La vraie question n'est pas "Big B doit-il arréter de jouer" c'est plutôt "Big B doit-il maintenant se cantonner aux rôles de grand-père débonnaire?" Et moi je pense que non puisqu'il y a des héros de tous les ages.

Plus j'y pense et moins je comprends son point de vue.

Back home from Chennai, well almost ! Went straight to the studio and 'Aladin' from the airport, worked all day came via the office attending meetings with Star TV on show proposals and now with all of you. You who continue to overwhelm me with your affection and concern and love. You who agree with the stands i take. You who encourage me to pursue my vocation despite my shortcomings. You who tolerate my beard, off or on ! You who show your faith in me, by sending me your own personal issues, hoping that i shall wave a magic wand and all will be well. You that criticize me lovingly and not so lovingly. You that get nasty and unethical and sometimes cheap and vulgar. You that exhibit your writing skills and laud mine. You that take interest in my father's works, quote them extensively and send me your own compositions. You that persevere that i will one day respond personally to you. You that write to me from far off lands - Costa Rica and USA and Hawai and just so many regions i never ever expected to be known...

Every evening, after the shooting there is a line up of promotional activities for 'BhoothNath'. Interviews and press meets. Routine questions, but a real test on our performance capacity to make each similar question sound different in its response. Marketing gets bigger by the day. We travel to London too at the end of the month to do press there. Tomorrow i launch through Zapak.com a game for the film. The traffic Commisioner wishes to, in conjunction with the Producers, launch a campaign on the traffic laws and regulations which are not being paid heed to - 'Stick to your lane, BhoothNath is watching', 'Observe the signal, Bhooth Nath is watching'.

Some found it not having much value. But the Commissioner explained the motive. If BhoothNath is a ghost, which he is in the film, then by saying BhoothNath is watching conveys the fact that even though drivers and commuters may feel the absence of the police man on the spot, there is someone that is watching you and that your infringement will not go unnoticed - an obvious reference to hidden cameras and plain clothes policemen. Interesting.

Ram Gopal Varma amuses me with his self deprecatory remark on the sms. This morning his text reads - ' Sarkar ( we address each other thus ), people are saying Tashan is as bad as Aag...! If Sholay has set the bench mark for the ultimate hit then the least i achieved with Aag, is that i made it a bench mark for the ultimate flop.. ha..ha '

Never too exuberant in success, nor too defeated in failure.
