Comme le film est tourné en Espagne, Zoya Akhtar a prévu d'y incorporer plusieurs traditions et coutumes locales. Chaque année (du 7 au 14 juillet), à Pamplona, ont lieu les plus célèbres courses de taureaux (l'Encierro).
Vêtus du costume traditionnel rouge et blanc, Abhay, Farhan et Hrithik ont donc dû courir avec un groupe de personnes locales en étant pourchassés par des taureaux. Cette scène est un point culminant du film.
En dehors de cette course de taureaux, Zoya a aussi filmé une autre coutume populaire : une bataille de tomates, scène tournée également avec Katrina.

ZOYA AKHTAR'S BOYS RUN WITH THE BULLS

Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay did just that while shooting a scene in Spain.

The cast and crew of Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is in Spain shooting for the first schedule of the film. Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay participated in the popular 'running of the bulls' ritual to shoot a scene for the film. Since the film is shot in Spain, Zoya has planned to incorporate many local customs and traditions.

Every year from July 7th-14th thousands pack into Pamplona to start Spain's most famous bull-running fiesta to honour Navarre capital's patron saint, San Fermin. Spain stages more than 3,000 fiestas (festivals) each year but the seven days of bull running are the favourite in terms of spectacle and excitement.

Dressed in the traditional costume of red and white, the three leads were made to run along with a group of locals while being chased by running bulls. A source says, "The bulls had their trainers with them, so they don't go rogue. The scene is one of the film's major highlights."

Apart from the running bulls, Zoya also shot another popular custom -- a tomato-throwing match where opponents douse each other in tomato pulp. Katrina Kaif and the three male leads of the film shot for the scene.

DIBAKAR BANERJEE TO MAKE POLITICAL THRILLER TITLED SHANGHAI STARRING ABHAY DEOL

Though Dibakar Banerjee's next film is called "Shanghai" it won't be shot in China. And though this political thriller has a wonderful role for the female protagonist it won't star Katrina, as expected.

But Banerjee is sold on his old favourite Abhay Deol. What's more, the uncompromising director has even modified the main character in the script of his next film "Shanghai" accordingly.

Dibakar now hopes that Abhay's next two films, which are out-and-out commercial ventures, would work. "This would automatically help my project to acquire an enhanced commercial clout. Although let me add we're making it on a tight budget of Rs. 12 crores with no frills. Shanghai is not an extravaganza. And it certainly won't be shot in China!"

The film will be produced by PVR.

Thanks to the success of Prakash Jha's Raajneeti, gritty political thrillers seem to have a life beyond the film festivals. Laughs Dibakar, "I told my writer, thanks to the success of "Raajneeti" we now know there's a market for more than just teenybopper romances and farcical comedies. Shanghai, let me tell you, is not set in China. The title describes a mindset. Beyond that I wouldn't like to reveal the plot."

This is the same project that Dibakar wanted to make with Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif. "But Imran said no to Shanghai," informed Dibakar. "That's when me and writer Urmi Juvekar decided to change the character. With Imran out the script suddenly, it became more gritty. The protagonist's character was naïve and innocent when Imran was to play him. Now he's not that innocent."

Dibakar hopes that Shanghai would take Abhay's career to the next level of stardom. Says the director, "When an actor evolves the project too changes. When I did "Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye" with Abhay that was a different actor. Today after "Dev D" (for Abhay) and "Love Sex Aur Dhokha" (for Dibakar) we're both in a different zone creatively."

Dibakar recently returned from the Munich Film Festival which concluded on July 4. His "Love Sex Aur Dhokha" had four screenings in Munich.

Dibakar was overwhelmed by the response, "The Indian films in Munich were not your typical Bollywood films. Nor were they obscure offbeat kinds. They were successfully unconventional films like mine and Abhishek Choubey's Ishqiya. One of my screenings was held on the day Germany was playing for the World Cup against Argentina. And we were still full!"

Dibakar feels the praise for LSD from abroad is a sign of the changing attitude of the West to our cinema. "What I liked was the fact that we were judged as world cinema, not 'Bollywood'. 70 percent of the audience at each screening was German. I feel Indian cinema will take a while to not be seen as anything more than a diversion by international audiences. But we're getting there."

Back home, Dibakar continues to spend all his waking hours with his adopted daughter.

Says the proud father. "Ira now has two front teeth. Watching her become an integral part of my wife's and my life is the greatest joy of I've experienced. I plan to return to direction next year."

Dibakar BANERJEE va réaliser un thriller politique intitulé "SHANGHAI" avec pour vedette Abhay Deol.
Bien que ce film s'appelle "SHANGHAI", il ne sera pas tourné en Chine et, bien que ce thriller politique ait un rôle merveilleux pour la protagoniste féminine, il n'aura pas pour vedette Katrina Kaif, comme prévu.

Grâce au succès de RAAJNEETI de Prakash Jha, les thrillers politiques semblent avoir une vie au-delà des festivals.
Le titre SHANGHAI décrit un état d'esprit mais Dibakar ne veut pas révéler l'intrigue pour le moment.
Il s'agit du même projet que Dibakar voulait réaliser avec Imran Khan et Katrina Kaif mais Imran a refusé SHANGHAI. C'est pourquoi Dibakar a décidé d'apporter des modifications au personnage. Le personnage principal qui devait être interprété par Imran était naïf et innocent. Maintenant, il ne l'est plus. Il a été adapté en conséquence, en fonction d'Abhay.
Dibakar espère que SHANGHAI élèvera la carrière d'Abhay à un autre niveau de célébrité. Il dit "Lorsqu'un acteur évolue, le projet aussi change. Lorsque j'ai fait "Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye" avec Abhay, c'était un acteur différent. Aujourd'hui, après "Dev D" (pour Abhay) et "Love Sex Aur Dhokha" (pour Dibakar), nous sommes tous les deux dans une zone différente au niveau créatif".
Dibakar BANERJEE est rentré récemment du Festival du Film de Munich qui s'est terminé le 4 juillet. Son film "Love Sex Aur Dhokha" y a été projeté 4 fois. Dibakar a la sensation que les éloges qu'il a reçues de l'étranger pour "Love Sex Aur Dhokha" est un signe du changement d'attitude de l'Occident pour le cinéma indien. Il dit "Ce que j'ai aimé, c'était le fait que nous étions jugés en tant que cinéma du monde et non pas "Bollywood". 70 % des spectateurs à chaque projection étaient allemands.".

Dans une réponse sur I hate Luv Storys, j'écrivais hier en parlant d'Imran : "..Je le verrais bien faire des choix un peu à la Abhay Deol, même si je n'y crois pas un instant...".
Et là tu nous annonces qu'Abhay va reprendre un rôle prévu pour Imran. C'est pas exactement ce que j'avais vu mais je trouve intéressant qu'un réalisateur pense à Abhay pour remplacer Imran. Bon je comprends bien que le personnage a été "adapté" mais quand même... De toute façon les caractères des personnages (et les situations) sont presque toujours modifiés au cours de la création.

Faut que je pense à refaire mon stock de marc de café.

Oui, j'avais vu que tu avais écrit ça sur le site au sujet d'Imran.
Dis-donc JP, tu n'as jamais pensé à t'installer comme voyant  Bon, effectivement, il y a une légère inversion par rapport à ce que tu avais prédit  mais quand même, c'est pas mal pour un début 

Pour ma part, je suis bien contente qu'il ait signé avec Abhay. Jusqu'à présent, je n'accroche pas du tout avec Imran; il n'a pas encore réussi à me convaincre 
Et puis, je ne suis pas étonnée que Dibakar Banerjee ait pensé à Abhay pour le remplacement d'Imran puisqu'ils avaient déjà travaillé ensemble sur "Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye", un film dans lequel Abhay avait été très bien noté

Que veux-tu, on a chacun notre looser. Bobbychon pour toi et Imran pour moi ) D'ailleurs ma boule de cristal me dit que le prochain rôle que refuse Irman sera pour Bobby... ou le contraire.

Pour être sérieux, il y a des chances pour que ça marche bien entre Banerjee et Deol ; ils m'ont l'air aussi flingués l'un que l'autre.

ABHAY KEEN TO WORK WITH DEOL FAMILY

He hails from an illustrious film family and has been in the industry for five years but Abhay Deol is yet to work with his uncle Dharmendra or cousins, Sunny and Bobby. "I really want to" he says, "but it's very hard to find the right script."

Of late, Deol has been actively involved in developing scripts, and hopes he will be able to write one to accommodate his kin soon. "I've written a lot of synopses and treatments that are yet to be evolved into scripts. I think of the subject, and then fit the actors. I feel that works out better," he explains.

But the thought of performing in front of his tayaji Dharmendra makes him nervous: "I'm scared to be anyone but myself in front of him. I don't know how I'd play a character that's not me." Even then, Deol is on the lookout for roles that he hasn't played before.

In his new role as the brand ambassador of McDowell Signature, Deol will be promoting an upcoming golf championship. "I like the fact that they are taking a risk by choosing golf over other popular sports like cricket. Not including song and dance in a film is one that I've taken. Making films on dark themes and portraying women in a different light are also considered risks," he says.

The actor is looking to push the envelope further by trying his hand at other genres. "I'd love to do an action movie," he says, confident that his reputation for doing niche cinema would not hamper that prospect. "I don't think the audience expects me to stick to any genre. Rather I think they want me to keep experimenting, without taking them for granted."

ABHAY TIENT A TRAVAILLER AVEC LA FAMILLE DEOL

Il vient d'une illustre famille du cinéma et il est dans l'industrie depuis 5 ans mais Abhay Deol n'a pas encore travaillé avec son oncle Dharmendra ou ses cousins Sunny et Bobby. "Je veux vraiment" dit-il "mais c'est très difficile de trouver le bon script".

Dernièrement, Abhay s'est impliqué activement dans le développement de scripts et il espère qu'il sera en mesure d'en écrire un qui puisse convenir à sa famille bientôt. "J'ai écrit beaucoup de synopsis et de traitements qui doivent encore évoluer en scénarios. Je pense au sujet et ensuite je l'adapte aux acteurs. Je pense que ça fonctionne mieux comme ça" explique-t-il.

Mais l'idée de jouer devant son oncle Dharmendra le rend nerveux. "J'ai peur d'être tout sauf moi-même en face de lui. Je ne sais pas comment j'interprèterai un personnage qui n'est pas moi" Quand même, Abhay est à l'affût de rôles qu'il n'a pas encore joués auparavant.

Dans son nouveau rôle d'ambassadeur de la marque McDowell Signature, Abhay va promouvoir le prochain championnat de golf. "J'aime le fait qu'ils prennent un risque en choisissant le golf plutôt que d'autres sports populaires comme le cricket. Ne pas inclure de chansons ni de danses dans un film est un risque que j'ai pris. Faire des films sur des thèmes sombres et dépeindre les femmes sous un angle différent, ce sont aussi des risques considérés", dit-il.

L'acteur cherche à repousser ses limites en s'essayant à d'autres genres. "J'aimerais faire un film d'action" dit-il confiant "Je ne pense pas que les spectateurs attendent de moi que je colle à un genre en particulier. Au contraire, je pense qu'ils veulent que je continue à expérimenter, sans les considérer comme acquis".

BIPASHA BASU ET ABHAY DEOL DANS UN FILM HOLLYWOODIEN

Bipasha Basu vient de signer son premier film hollywoodien intitulé "Singularity" qui aurait aussi pour vedette Abhay Deol (dans un rôle secondaire). Abhay jouerait le rôle de l'ami d'enfance de Bipasha.
"Singularity" est une romance épique dirigée par Roland Joffé (La Cité de la Joie) avec, dans les rôles principaux, Chris Pine, Josh Hartnett, Olga Kurylenko et Christopher Egan.
Le film se déroule dans le contexte de la première guerre anglo-marathe du 18ème Siècle et met en scène 4 personnages : un officier britannique dans l'Inde coloniale, une femme indienne dont il tombe amoureux, un biologiste marin américain et son amie, une scientifique, qui se retrouve piégée dans un navire marchand britannique qui a fait naufrage.
Ce film, d'un budget de 33 millions de dollars, sera tourné en Australie et en Inde. Le tournage commencera en novembre.

BIPASHA BASU AND ABHAY DEOL IN A HOLLYWOOD FILM

Bong beauty Bipasha Basu has signed her first Hollywood film, 'Singularity', which also stars Abhay Deol in lead role. The film will be directed by English-French director Roland Joffe.
Bipasha met Roland Joffe at a hotel in Mumbai in September. The film is budgeted at $33 million, and is a tale of a love, set across two time periods and continents.
Bips confirmed the news saying, "I am very excited...but have to admit that I am also a little nervous. Everything happened really fast."
The film is set in the backdrop of the First Anglo-Maratha War of the 18th century and describes four characters - a British officer in colonial India, an Indian woman he falls in love with, an American marine biologist and his researcher lover -- who gets trapped in a wrecked British merchant ship.
Singularity' will be shot in Australia and India. Bipasha will go to Brisbane, Australia in the first week of November to shoot for the film.
"I am not getting much of preparation time right now. I have been given just eight days to prepare for underwater scenes and horse riding...I wish I had at least a month's time for preparation. There is just no time before I fly out! I have finished all my pending endorsement assignments and now I will try and grasp whatever I can there itself," she said.
Apart from Bipasha and Abhay, the film also stars Chris Pine, Josh Hartnett, Olga Kurylenko, Christopher Egan and Shane Briant among others.
