Synopsis

Parag Dixit is living a dream life with a great job and his loving girlfriend Maansi! However things take an ugly turn when after a series of unfortunate events the suddenly wakes up in jail; handcuffed and randomly beaten up by the cops.

Parag is perplexed and in a place far from his utopian life. He tries hard to face away from the ugly truth and wish it's all a bad dream but soon succumbs to the prison anarchy. The only salvation he finds is in Nawab, a convict and a warder who believes that Parag is innocent.

Soon, Parag discovers the inner mechanism and the science responsible for the wretched status inside the prison and hordes of broken hearts and shattered souls which managed to find comfort amidst the four prison walls.

He is left with a choice, to either live a life that controlled and exploited or fight against the system!

After the success of "Fashion", Madhur Bhandarkar returns with "Jail", which stars Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mugdha Godse. And the filmmaker has roped in composer brothers Sharib and Toshi Sabri along with Shamir Tandon to score the music.
The film has only four tracks, but the soundtrack boasts of melodious as well as pacy numbers.
"Bareli ke bazaar mein", which seems to be an item number, is crooned by Sonu Kakkar. It is a confluence of rustic influences with western electronic beats, which to a large extent makes it a song for the masses. It is a fast-paced and energetic number.
The song has a remixed version too, which includes English lyrics as well. This version is average.
Next in line is a devotional number "Daata sun le" by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar. The very fact that it is sung by the veteran singer, gives the song an edge. Apart from that, it is a soft track and has a soothing effect on the listener.
The song also has a contemporary version, which is not very different from the original – just a little more orchestration in parts.
Then there is "Milke yun laga", a love ballad that has Sharib behind the mike. It has a strong rock feel and creates an impact.
Finally there is a power-packed song "Sainya ve". The song by Toshi sure does start with a bang.
The song has two more versions – one a remix and the other rock.
There is nothing special about the remix version. It just packs in more beats. However, the rock version is promising. It has great musical backing that lifts the song completely.
In short, the album is an appealing mix of slow and fast numbers.

La bande originale s'écoute en effet, mais il n'y a aucune véritable surprise, sauf le retour de Lata Mangeshkar, pour ce qui est malheureusement un titre assez mineur intitulé Daata Sun Le.

Pour le reste ça oscille entre le morceau électro avec un rythme très club, masti avec Barely Ke Bazaar et un soupçon de pop. J'ai senti clairemet que la musique n'était pas la préoccupation principale. Pour moi un morceau comme Daav Laga était supérieur (plus trépidant, plus déjanté).

Il y a un beau titre, Milke Yun Laga.

Et les deux versions de Saiyan Ve, la première chantée par Toshi avec un accent très dancehall, dans l'esprit de Jashn, et une deuxième version plus rock, plus incisive, chantée
par Neil Nitin Mukesh.

Bref, le film devrait être supérieur à sa musique, grâce à la technique et au soin accordé généralement au script, aux dialogues et à la direction d'acteurs de Bhandarkar, une référence dans ces domaines.

C'est sûr Jordan que la musique n'a rien d'extraordinaire mais je pense que JAIL n'est pas vraiment le genre de film que l'on regarde pour les musiques de toute façon. A la limite, il ne devrait peut-être même pas y en avoir...
Néanmoins, je trouve la chanson Saiyan Ve (version dance de la promo) assez sympa.
Moi, c'est mon style de musique   

Tout ce que j'espère, c'est que ce nouveau film de Madhur Bhandarkar sera aussi bien que l'excellent Fashion et que Neil sera à la hauteur, surtout après avoir réalisé une aussi bonne performance dans New York.

Je ne me fais pas de souci sur la qualité du film de Madhur, qui ne m'a jamais déçu !... Mais tu as raison, Deolia, ce serait mieux sans aucune musique, comme c'est le cas justement dans LE chef-d'oeuvre du film de prison Le Trou (de Jacques Becker avec Michel Constantin).
